Yes. Most guys do just the neck — below the beard line — or the cheeks above it, so the outline stays sharp without a trimmer. You pick each area separately.

At the first visit you tell me how you want to look, and I draw the line on your skin. You check it in the mirror before the first pulse. Right along the line we use the small S handpiece, so the edge is clean.

Destroyed follicles don't come back, so we set the line carefully: it can always be raised at later sessions, but stubble can't be drawn back in. If you're not sure, start with the neck only.

We judge it at peak smoothness, about 3 weeks after a session: if you stay smooth longer than before the course, or the hair grows back finer, lighter and sparser, the laser is working. No. Even with full XL coverage, hair comes back in patches — not every hair is in the growth phase, and each follicle has its own rhythm. It evens out by the end of the course.

Yes. It isn't radiation like an X-ray — it's 808 and 940 nm infrared light. It heats the pigment in the hair a few millimetres deep, while the thyroid sits deeper, under fat and the neck muscles. No research links laser hair removal to thyroid disease. If you're being treated for your thyroid, mention it at the consultation: with unbalanced hormones hair can grow back faster, and you may need more sessions.

The light hits the pigment in the hair follicle a few millimetres under the skin and turns into heat. A review of research on lasers and IPL found no evidence of a credible cancer risk (Lasers in Medical Science, 2017). I cover moles with white paste, and any mark that worries you gets checked by a dermatologist first.

For years. A hair the laser has destroyed won't grow back.
