FAQ — Laser Hair Removal Questions

A standard series usually consists of 6 to 8 treatments. The intervals between the first visits are always shorter. After the first three sessions, the breaks become noticeably longer. The hair grows much slower, there is less of it, and the skin needs more time for the remaining dormant follicles to enter the active growth phase. In practice, this mostly means about 5–8 visits over a year, depending on the zone, individual body reaction, and the stage of the course.

Example intervals at the beginning of the series: face, bikini, underarms — 4–6 weeks; stomach, arms — 6–8 weeks; legs, back — 8–10 weeks.

What happens after the series? To maintain perfectly smooth skin for years, touch-up treatments are performed after the main course is completed. Typically, just one visit every year or every three years is enough, as the body may eventually activate isolated, previously dormant hair follicles over time.

Most clients describe the treatment as a light tingling — a bit like gentle micro-currents — rather than pain. The MeDioStar Monolith laser cools the skin before, during and right after each pulse, which noticeably reduces the sensation, especially on sensitive areas such as the bikini line and underarms.

You do not need to put up with pain to get results. If it feels too intense during the treatment, tell your specialist.

That's why, before your first visit in Wrocław, we carry out a detailed analysis of your skin, tan, current medications, and dermatological history — this allows us to select safe and effective settings on the medical-grade MeDioStar Monolith laser (Asclepion, Germany).

The medical laser beam acts strictly on the surface of the skin, penetrating only 1–4 millimeters deep — precisely where the hair follicle is located. The laser selectively targets melanin (the natural pigment) inside the hair root and destroys it thermally, without affecting tissue located any deeper. The light wave does not travel further into the body and has no effect whatsoever on internal organs, the hormonal system, or overall health — it is a fully localized, surface-level hair removal method, confirmed by the device's medical certifications.

No. The laser uses infrared light at 808 and 940 nm — non-ionising radiation (ICNIRP). It doesn't carry enough energy to damage the DNA in your cells, the way X-rays and sunbed UV do. The light hits the pigment in the hair follicle a few millimetres under the skin and turns into heat. A review of research on lasers and IPL found no evidence of a credible cancer risk (Lasers in Medical Science, 2017). We cover moles with white paste, and any mark that worries you gets checked by a dermatologist first.

After every client we clean and disinfect the couch and the laser handpieces with Velox Foam Extra (Medisept), following the manufacturer's instructions. Diana disinfects her hands and gloves with Sterillhand (Alpinus Medica), and before the session she cleanses the client's skin with an octenidine antiseptic. Pareos and kilts are washed and disinfected after every client; wipes and underwear are single-use.

We do not perform laser hair removal during pregnancy at LASERRIX — it is an elective treatment, so we postpone it until after the birth. Breastfeeding on its own, however, is not an automatic contraindication: the available sources do not indicate that the laser affects lactation or the baby.

Treated hair usually falls out of the skin within 7–21 days. The full effect builds up gradually over the whole course (usually 6–8 treatments).

Yes, shaving with a regular razor is completely fine. The only strict rule is: do not pull the hair out by the root. This means no waxing, sugaring, tweezing, or mechanical epilators during your course.

Here is how it works: our MeDioStar Monolith laser targets the melanin (pigment) inside the hair root. If you pluck the hair, the laser loses its target, and the treatment won't work. So, between your visits to LASERRIX, please stick to a standard razor only.

Yes, but it is best to avoid intense workouts, saunas, hot baths, and swimming pools for the first 24–48 hours after the session.

The skin needs a little time to calm down and recover after the laser treatment. Heavy sweating or contact with chlorinated water right after the session can easily cause irritation. After 24–48 hours, it is completely safe to return to your usual fitness routine.

Yes. At LASERRIX we treat all areas all year round, including in summer. There is one condition: the skin in the treatment area must not be freshly tanned. For at least 7 days before your visit, avoid intense sunbathing and sunbeds, and if the area is exposed, apply SPF every day.

After the treatment, apply SPF 50 to exposed areas and avoid tanning for 7–14 days.

No, it cannot. During the treatment, any tattoo is always carefully protected and bypassed. The laser beam targets dark pigment, so hitting a tattoo could damage the design, alter its color, and cause serious skin burns.

For men — yes. We most commonly treat the neck, beard line, and jaw area. For women, we do not perform facial treatments at the LASERRIX clinic. Fine, light, or hormone-dependent hair on a woman's face carries a high risk of stimulating paradoxical hair growth (the opposite effect). Prioritizing safety and proper results, we choose not to treat this area for women.
