How it works

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a method of permanently reducing hair using light energy. Learn how the laser works, and see what the treatment itself looks like.

How the laser works

01

Precise action on the hair

The laser acts precisely on the hair's structure without damaging the skin.

02

Absorbed by melanin

The laser beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by melanin — the pigment present in the hair.

03

Light turns into heat

The energy turns into heat and travels through the hair shaft straight down to its follicle.

04

The follicle heats to 60–70°C

At this temperature, the cells responsible for hair growth are destroyed.

05

The follicle is destroyed for good

When the hair is in its active growth phase, the laser destroys the follicle permanently.

Expert note

The laser doesn't "trim" the hair — it destroys its root matrix. That's why, after a course of treatments, you forget about shaving for years, saving time and money on razors.

It doesn't just work on the hair. It works on the source of growth.

The laser doesn't give a short-lived "until your next shave" effect, because its target isn't the surface of the skin.

It works by delivering energy directly to the hair follicle — the place the hair grows from.

That's why the effect of laser hair removal builds up gradually, with each treatment and each new active growth phase of the hair.

At LASERRIX, we treat laser hair removal not as a single treatment, but as a process built toward a spectacular result.

Why is one treatment not enough?

A course of treatments isn't something salons invented. It follows directly from the natural growth cycle of our hair.

Body hair doesn't grow all at once. On average, only 15–30% of it is in the active growth phase — called anagen — at any given time.

Only in this phase is the hair firmly connected to the follicle and able to conduct heat effectively to its growth site.

The rest of the hair is in a transitional or resting phase. To the laser, it's temporarily "invisible," because it isn't a viable target yet.

That's why a single visit can't effectively remove all the hair. After each treatment, some follicles are destroyed, and the next batch of hair enters the active phase and becomes the laser's target during the next session.
